FAQ

Can I bring an Electric Shaver on a Plane?

Yes! Electric shavers with replaceable or rechargeable batteries can be brought on planes.

Can Electric Shavers be in Carry-On Luggage?

Yes. Because there are no exposed cutting elements you can safely pack your electric shaver in your carry on baggage. If your electric shaver has a travel lock you should enable it so your shaver doesn’t accidentally get turned on.

Can Electric Shavers be in Checked Luggage?

Yes, you can pack your electric shaver in checked luggage. However, we recommend packing your shaver in your carry-on if possible to ensure you have it if your flight is delayed or luggage gets misplaced.

Will My Electric Shaver Work in Europe or Asia?

Most likely yes. Many models of Braun, Panasonic, and Philips shavers are designed to be used at voltages in the United States and Europe. A travel adapter may be necessary to use the different plug types that are different by country.

This website provides an excellent list of types of plugs and voltages used in countries around the world.

Should I bring My Electric Shaver Cleaning & Charging Station?

The decision to bring the clean and charge station is dependent on how long you will be traveling and how you will be traveling. Usually, it is not worth the hassle for shorter trips. If you are traveling by plane the liquid in the cleaning stations complicates traveling.

Most cleaning stations have liquid in them that is over the 3oz allowed to be traveled within carry-on bags. You will need to remove the liquid within the cleaning station and most refills are also larger than 3 oz which means you will not be able to bring them in your carry on either.

Unless you are spending months in another location and are bringing a checked bag we would manually clean your shaver while traveling.

How do I Clean my Electric Shaver While Traveling?

Cleaning your shaver while traveling will ensure your shaver still performs well even without a cleaning station.

If your shaver is waterproof:

  1. Unplug the shaver if it is being charged. Remove shaving head from the body and lightly shake hair from the shaving head
  2. Re-attach shaving head to the body and put a few drops of liquid soap on the shaving foils/rotary heads.
  3. Turn on the shaver and rinse for 20-30 seconds with warm water. Continue rinsing the shaver if there is still soapy residue.
  4. Turn off the shaver and remove the shaving head. Rinse shaving head again to ensure all soap has been removed.
  5. Let shaver and shaving head dry separately and re-attach to the shaver body once the shaving head is dry.

If your shaver is NOT waterproof:

  1.  Remove shaving head from the shaver body and lightly shake the loose hair from the cutting elements.
  2. If you have compressed hair or a hair drier you can force air through the foils or rotary heads to knock loose any additional hair.
  3. Re-attach shaving head to shaver body.

Other Traveling Tips

Many shavers include a travel lock that can be activated to prevent your shaver from being turned on accidentally. Some shavers use an electronic lock that requires you to hold the power button to activate the lock while others use a manual switch to lock the power button. Refer to the user guide or search for your shaver model to determine how to activate the travel lock.

Most shavers sold today include a protective cover or travel case to ensure your shaver is protected while traveling. Ensure that you protect the shaving head to ensure no foreign materials get into it.

If your shaver did not come with or you have lost your travel case you can find third party replacements that will protect your shaver.

Finally, the most important tip for traveling with your shaver. Enjoy your trip!
